Start with what the water is doing

A gutter full of leaves needs a different response from a leaking join. The most useful first detail is where water appears during rain: over the front edge, beneath a joint, down a wall or inside the building.

What to include in a gutter-cleaning quote

A useful quote identifies the parts of the drainage system being cleaned and separates that work from repairs. Before the job is agreed, work through these points with us.

• The gutter runs and elevations included, plus any areas that cannot be reached.
• Whether outlets and accessible downpipe connections are included in the clean.
• How removed debris will be collected and disposed of.
• How damage or a suspected defect found during cleaning will be discussed.
• Whether a repair is included or needs a separate scope.

Clearing the inside of a gutter and washing its visible outside face are different tasks. If you want both, say so in the enquiry. A clean can remove a blockage; it cannot restore a gutter that has holes or failed supports.

A useful brief for a Lower Hutt property

For example, a townhouse enquiry might describe an overflowing rear gutter above a lower roof, with access through a locked side gate. Add the property address, the side affected and the date of the last clean. This gives us a better starting point than a close-up photograph alone.
