Cracks, spalling and damaged render on an elevated facade need a clear assessment. Altitude provides concrete remediation, including crack injection and repairs to facade defects.

Start with the right scope
A practical approach to the work
The visible mark is only the starting point for a repair brief. Record the location, the extent of the affected area and whether it has changed. This helps distinguish a local maintenance task from a problem requiring further investigation or engineering input.
01
Cracking
A photograph with a recognisable reference point helps locate a crack on a large elevation. Note whether it crosses a joint, has been repaired before or is associated with internal damp. The repair method depends on the cause and condition, not appearance alone.
02
Spalling and loose material
Describe any concrete or render that appears to be separating from the facade, especially above a path or entrance. Do not approach or disturb loose material. Ask the building manager to arrange an appropriate assessment and control access to the affected area.
03
Repair and finish
A useful proposal identifies the repair area and any associated coating or sealant work. Crack injection is one available technique, not a universal answer. The scope should explain what can be repaired and what needs specialist direction before work proceeds.
Build a useful defect record
Record
Why it helps
Elevation, floor and nearby window
Lets the assessment team find the same defect from outside.
Wide photograph and close view, if safely available
Shows the surrounding construction as well as the visible damage.
Date first noticed and earlier repairs
Gives context for recurrence or change.
Staining, exposed material or internal symptoms
Helps frame the questions for inspection without assuming a diagnosis.
Questions to settle before repairs
Which defects are included in the quoted area?
Is further investigation or an engineer's specification needed?
How will access and the area below the work be managed?
What preparation, repair and finishing stages are included?
What photographs or written records will be provided at completion?
Questions before you book
Can you inspect defects high on a building?
Altitude's rope access capability supports close access to elevated facade work. The access method and extent of inspection are agreed for the building and the task.
Does every crack need injection?
No. The cause, movement, substrate and required outcome affect the repair approach. Send the history and photographs first; do not choose a technique solely from the crack's appearance.
Can painting hide the repair?
Discuss the desired finish and the surrounding coating when the repair is scoped. Colour and texture matching need consideration, and a coating should not be used to conceal an unresolved defect.
